Professor Daniel Fonseca
The Journey
Professor Daniel began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in Fortaleza, Brazil, training at Nova União under Master Sá. When the academy changed leadership, he moved to Gracie Fortaleza, where he trained under Mestre Guilherme Rocha (Cajú) and Professor Davi Romcy — two of the most respected names in the Gracie lineage.
After years of dedicated training in Brazil, Professor Daniel moved to Canada, where he taught at Gracie Barra for approximately three years, sharing authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a new community. Seeking to build something of his own, he opened Raymond Martial Arts Academy in the town of Raymond, Alberta — the first place he called home in Canada.
Today, Professor Daniel brings the same discipline, respect, and technical excellence he learned on the mats in Brazil to every class at the academy. From Little Warriors to adult competitors, his mission is to share the art of Jiu-Jitsu and help each student grow — on and off the mats.
